#art/#history: i reckon it's obvious when i'm particularly enamoured with my subject. i am eternally beguiled by this chap & his films - & so it goes for the one that celebrates its 60th anniversary #otd: 'mon oncle'. the first of jacques tati's films to be released in colour, it finds his affable creation, monsieur hulot, struggling with an increasingly modern & capitalist france. in spite of having access to all the mod cons, gerard (m. hulot's nephew) would rather spend time in his uncle's world where things are a bit more ramshackle, comfy & relaxed. it's a visual & emotional treat - plus, as #tati loved dogs & their innate sense of humour, there are loads of adorable canines in the film.
