out of the mouths of babes...& tonight's subject qualifies. from 1931 right through to that october day in neuilly-sur-seine (1989), she tore up our cinema screens with every last drop of spirit she could give us. that's not to say she only had the 'baby jane' setting. she could do heartbreaking nuance like nobody's business - &, o, did she know personal tragedy. she was determined, too, &, from 1949, she shrugged off the studio yoke to call her own shots. i loved her in 'death on the nile' & 'the whales of august'. which films will you watch to honour the birth of bette davis #otd in 1908?
